The challenge we must all face!

I know it has been forever since I last wrote something, so let’s see if I can catch you up on my life. On June 18th, I got married to my best friend in the world. We started our honeymoon on June 19th, only for it to be messed up by a piece of metal getting stuck in my tire. I wanted to cry, but we got it all figured out; and I bought a new tire the next day, and we hit the road to North Carolina for our honeymoon to finally begin! We got to our cabin with limited WIFI and started a week of fun. We cooked, laughed, shopped, and, most importantly, slept in! It was a week full of relaxation, and we couldn’t have asked for a better one. We had the opportunity to visit one of Kat’s friends in Knoxville, TN. We stayed the night there immediately hit the road the following day to get back to Mississippi by nightfall to help with one of my former student’s wedding and; surprisingly, I didn’t get a ticket, and we weren’t late, haha! However, the rollercoaster of a week was about to begin!

That next week was difficult as we had to say our goodbyes to friends and families and packed all of our belongings. We were moving to Statesboro, GA, on July 1st, and I just knew that I had everything under control; fun fact, I didn’t. Earlier in June, I booked a U-Haul truck, only to be contacted days before moving that it was unavailable. For 3 days, I had constant phone calls with the company and was still getting nowhere on why what I asked for couldn’t be where I wanted. Thankful it was all figured our come our day to leave, we were going to drive one night halfway and the other half the following day. However, our night was long. We moved slowly due to driving a truck with a trailer hitch that only allowed us to go 55 mph while dealing with a torrential downpour. We finally made it to Columbus, GA, around 5 am, where we slept for only 6 hours and immediately hit the road to Statesboro. We drove the last leg of the drive in what was perfect weather! When we arrived in Statesboro, we were met by one of my board members, that helped us unpack everything into our new home. We made it!

Since then, I have been getting settled in my job, and recently, Kat found a job for herself. I wanted to catch you on where I am mentally to say this. Life is life. It moves, it flows, it changes, it gets crazy, it gets fun, it takes sharp turns, but most importantly, it lives! We all have a life to live. Sometimes we can get bogged down with the little or big things happening, so hear me when I say I feel you. Therefore, if your life is nuts right now, I pray it gets better because I know it can get better.

I am not someone who hasn’t been through anything telling you to suck it up. Instead, I am a person who recognizes that life will demand more of you in some seasons, and in others, you demand more of it. I love to get the ball rolling, but sometimes I get rolled. I often get caught in pushing myself too hard and becoming stressed. However, in the story I told earlier, I learned that I am not always in control. I must be willing to pivot and trust that it will all turn out well. That said, I know we have something that will challenge how we have lived up until that point. But if I can do it, so can you! Be willing to adapt and know that someone believes in you!
